I just don't understand how $30 million dollars in charitable contributions designated for the poor of Lakewood could be taken away so easily. It is an abuse of power that leaves me distraught knowing that anyone in such a powerful position could abuse that power and not be held accountable. I think of it as a very bad ending to "It's a Wonderful Life" and "The Bells of St. Mary's." I am still holding out hope for a miracle, where "good" actually overcomes this "greed."Summers was the leader of a charitable organization (LHA) and he used his position and status to secretly divert charitable money for his own personal political gain.
That money was earmarked for the healthcare of Lakewood residents, including the poor--is was the mission of LHA!
