Hoops: St. Edward 95, Valley Forge 47

Post by Michael Deneen »

St. Edward moves on to the next round of the tournament.
It was as one-sided as the score...they jumped out in front 12-0 and never looked back.

I'll post photos as soon as my tech-unsavvy mind can do it.

St. Edward took command early in this game, and by the fourth quarter both benches were playing. Tom Shmock led all Eagle scorers with 18 points. Matt Gonzalez had 13, and Sean Flannery and Paul Gassman each had 11.

The Eagles advance to play North Royalton on Wednesday night at 7pm at Strongsville High School. North Royalton beat Parma 53-44 tonight. If both win Wednesday, a potential St. Ed/St. Ignatius game would happen next Saturday at 7pm at Strongsville.

Things got rough for the Patriots right after this tipoff. The Eagles jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first few minutes.

The Eagles were making three pointers the entire first half.

St. Edward used a three quarter court press through much of the first half, causing many turnovers and helping build the lead.

A bit of breaking news: Tonight's game will be played at Strongsville High.

However, the next round (to be played Saturday) has been moved to the Wolstein Center at Cleveland state.
