I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone that the "Save Lakewood Hospital" movement is still going strong.
Contrary to some opinions, the fact remains that both the legal and political process is ongoing.
It will likely continue for many months, if not into 2017.
SLH had two rallies on Wednesday:
1) 30 hearty people showed up in the cold rain at 5:30 am outside CCF's "State of the Clinic" event at the Intercontinental Hotel.
Channel 3 and Crains Cleveland were among the media.
2) Later that evening another 25 people attended a protest outside the Mayor's "State of the City" address at the Masonic Temple. As Mr. Call's photo indicates, the crowd inside the building consisted largely of political figures and City employees.
Here is video from the morning rally:
That's a sturdy group!
If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please attend the SLH meeting this Sunday at 4pm in the Multipurpose Room of the Lakewood Library.
A member of the SLH legal team will be there to answer questions.

Re: Save Lakewood Hospital Updates and News
While a noble effort, I feel that more could be done. While well-intentioned, I don't feel that this was the best place to rally. Most people attending the conference were CCF employees and executives. Also, the majority of the people in vehicles probably do not know about the issue or do not care. Many people come from all over the world to visit people or have procedures done.
In talking with different people in Lakewood, most assume it is over and done with and they are just accepting the fact that it is over because some people out gettign signatures were somewhat overbearing. May be this turned people off. I don't know.
I feel it would be great if this kind of thing could be done here in Lakewood, on the public sidewalks adjacent to the hospital, the medical buildings, or who knows, maybe in front of the mayor and council's houses, LHA members houses, etc. A lot of people that live in Lakewood drive down Detroit and Madison to go to work, do shopping, take kids to school, etc. If there were signs telling them what was actually going on, it might get people's attention. I suggested this over a year ago and was turned down. I suggested it again in January. I was almost blown off of my chair and was told that it would not do any good.
Did it do us any good not to do it? We don't need huge groups of people to be out there for hours and hours. People can give what they can.

You have a lot of good ideas Lori, you should come and walk with us, you might not be getting enough exposure here on the deck, you are the only one that I have heard say someone that was gathering signatures was overbearing. You were probably talking to a builder. We were instructed to be polite and walk away if anyone we met was contentious. I certainly have talked to many people since I joined SLH.Lori Allen _ wrote:While a noble effort, I feel that more could be done. Kucinich is pursuing that action, which I know is a very, very slow process.
