Lakewood Quickly Losing Its Cool Factor Under Present Regime

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Lakewood, the best place to raise a family, and one of the "cool" spots in the county, is changing.

With a City Hall not just eager to lie, and cover up, but actively search out and intimidate anyone who disagrees has made this place where people are afraid to talk.
If people are afraid to talk in a city, then life is just not cool anymore in their minds, and they seek safety.

During the last election it has now been found out that a least one person was actively hired by City Hall, The Mayors Re-Election Team and Build Lakewood, to seek out, threaten, assume identities, and menace, while making sure through "Official Source" that the people that were actually telling the truth we made out to be demons. One person using multiple names. with the encouragement of the groups that brought him in for his specialty, intimidation, lies, and false representations.

Lakewoodites, you have been played as complete fools.

Law Directors, Finance Directors willing to do nearly anything to save their jobs, no matter how far the truth is bent.

When Law Directors and Safety Directors (The Mayor) work and scheme to hurt businesses, residents, and groups.

When they work overtime to deprive residents of first amendment rights, while putting out "the voice of neighborhoods."

They are morally bankrupt, as I have said for over a year now.

As more and more comes to light, I predict Mayor Summers finds a way not to finish his term.

Hang on Lakewood, we are in for one hell of a ride.

Lakewood, we have been played.

Adding specific names of the accused to the post would help add meaning, accountability, strength and understanding to this post.

Well Corey I agree.

But I will leave that for the people that went to the police, on your advice, and after a police investigation found it all to be true.

Their story to tell, I am just saying, the Mayor knew it, Law Director knew it, Dru Siley knew it, and BL knew it.

And they went ahead and put residents in danger, to further their political careers and the hospital scam.

And though the police wanted to prosecute, the Law Director, who knew they were a threat, said no.

Now the feds are entering the picture.

Lakewood City release coming soon.

Jim,

Good post. I would not worry about Summers and where he goes from here. He will probably go work for Budish at the county. Since my post a couple of days ago regarding citizens being intimidated, I now have city employees following me in their own cars. Yesterday someone followed me all the way down Detroit from 117th. I turned on to Marlowe and pulled over. They sped by me like a bat out of hell. I followed them up to Clifton and they turned right and were down the street four blocks already heading back toward 117th. About two months ago, I was coming up Bunts when I noticed a brown Ford LTD with city plates had been following me for quite some time. I pulled over and let them go by. I got behind them at Clifton where they turned left. Once on Clifton, they noticed that I was behind them and they apparently panicked. They stopped the car in the middle lane of Clifton. I went around them and noticed in my rear-view mirror that they turned south on Manor Park.

I could go on and on about similar incidents, but I felt that these two were worth mentioning.

For anyone else that this is happening to, I would suggest an investment in some kind of dash camera. Also, always make sure your cell phone is charged so you can record anything if needs be.

It depends on how you define "cool".
Summers' apologists will claim that Lakewood is cooler than ever, with lots of bars, restaurants and now Solstice Steps.

However, they will eventually learn that it's not "cool" when the loss of the hospital requires increased taxes and/or reduced city services.

The very second something has been deemed "cool" ... it no longer is.

That's the nature of cool.

Even "The Fonz" lost cool when he jumped the shark.

Mike,
Doesn't it make you wonder how much the city administration really cares about our health when our economic development for the past three years has been bars, e-cig stores, smoking lounges and burner cell phone stores? The west end bar scene is so out of control that around the Corner had to hire off duty sheriff deputies for security. Just about every weekend we have the Sheriff's Department, Highway Patrol and sometimes the Bureau of Criminal Investigation patrolling in our city. Last week there was a big fight out in the street in front of the Riverwood Cafe. At least ten or more people were involved. When we have these other law enforcement agencies having to come in to help our police, I would say we have a problem. I believe they are also here since we are the number one Cleveland suburb for heroin. We have a fantastic Police Department, but, is it fair to them that they have to add drunken brawls to their already high volume of stressful calls?

In my opinion, the Active Living Task Force translates into Rec Center for the rich elites. Believe me, we need a hospital in a town with 51,000 plus people more than we need a country club for the mayor and his rich friends!

Lori,

I keep reading in your posts, that Lakewood has the biggest heroin problem. I know that every suburb is dealing with the epidemic. Heroin effects everyone. Can you please send over the link stating Lakewood has the biggest problem? Unable to locate.

Thanks,

Pride comes before the fall.

This region continues to lose population and continues to slide further behind other regions in the Country. Lakewood cannot beat the odds forever.

Each job, each resident, each business that leaves town diminishes the City a little more. They cannot be replaced. I suppose the current regime can ride the wave for awhile. They can sell assets to fund operating expenses and use police power to silence the opposition but eventually the truth will out and reality will overtake them and the City.

It didn't have to be that way.

I agree with a lot of this. But the tone of what I am hearing about Lakewood has turned.

For the longest time, what we would hear at various Observer and other meetings around the county, made Lakewood seem nothing like it is for those that grew up there.

And talking with people here, the word "but..." ends many of their conversations.

And more and more Lakewoodites that would never leave are leaving.

I fear Lakewood lost their immunity.

When the Feds show up in Lakewood in 2028....for whatever reason....you read it here first, broken first on the Deck - someone will archive it. There is an app for that.
