James,
Good to see you here finally! If you are up for it, there is another rally before the Special Council mtg, 6:00 Thursday eve. The rally a couple weeks ago was a hoot!

With the way they have conducted everything else this is par for the course. I believe our time will come.Marguerite Harkness wrote:The five petitioners have JUST received notice, at 12:30 p.m. TODAY, that we have 6 HOURS TO PREPARE A 30-MINUTE PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION TO COUNCIL TONIGHT AT 6:30.
How much advance notice did they give Cleveland Clinic docs for last April 30 big pow-wow??

Re: City Council Calls Special Meeting
It's just SO obvious that they are carrying on a charade and have no intention of seriously considering any path other than the one laid out for them by the Cleveland Clinic.
Would anyone expect that a presentation could be put together with so little notice? People have jobs and family obligations. This is entirely unfair, unprofessional, and reeks of punitiveness.

Do they actually expect to change their minds and repeal the deal? Not likely.Marguerite Harkness wrote:The five petitioners have JUST received notice, at 12:30 p.m. TODAY, that we have 6 HOURS TO PREPARE A 30-MINUTE PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION TO COUNCIL TONIGHT AT 6:30.

And do you suppose the Angelo's fundraising event factored into their scheduling decision?
The news about how they operate should be proclaimed loudly.

This is straight out of the Summers/Siley handbook. It's exactly the sleazy tactics they employed against the residents of Grace during The Drug Mart deal.
Read Colleen Cotter's article in The Observer " Grace Ave. Lessons Learned." and check out the timeline. It' all there. Nothing has changed.
Summers, Siley, Bullock and now you can add O'Leary and Anderson have no qualms about doing the wrong thing to achieve an end.

Mark, yes, that's not much time to prepare a presentation, yet at least they are being granted a chance to present. No other group, such as Build Lakewood, is being given such an opportunity. I imagine they are grateful for the invitation.

There's Jim Kenny, on time and on point, again lecturing us on why we should shut up and be happy we are getting screwed.

Jim Kenny edited his post from "they should be grateful for the invitation" to what he now has up.

Re: City Council Calls Special Meeting
This "six hour invitation" is quite obviously a cynical ploy by City Hall.
They had plenty of time to make an invitation, but wait until the afternoon of the meeting.
I know Richmond, Beachwood, and Linndale have issues....but we may have the most corrupt City Hall in the county.

Here's a link to my photos. I tried to take shots that told the story. Needless to say, it doesn't look good for the referendum.

Re: City Council Calls Special Meeting
It's interesting that City Council thinks delay is to their advantage.
They're even willing to spend $100,000 to postpone the vote.
Frankly, I think a quick election would have been more beneficial to the anti-hospital side.
The longer we wait, the more information will leak about poor service at Fairview, and more info will come out from the ongoing lawsuit.
