Referendum Petition has 2686 VALID Signatures

The Referendum Petition has been returned to the City of Lakewood for Council Review.

There are 2686 VALID signatures, far more than needed to have Lakewood City Council either Repeal Ordinance 49-15 or to place it on the Ballot.

I am fairly certain they won't repeal the Ordinance. We have asked them to expedite their review and call a special session of City Council to place this on the March Ballot. We will have to wait for a response from our elected officials.

Thank you to all who worked on this effort, 87 people, most of them braving the cold to garner these signatures. We had 3468 signatures and a drop out rate of 22.549%..very low thanks to the diligence of the Citizens for a STRONG LAKEWOOD!

It's hard to express what an amazing accomplishment this was.

These signatures were collected in less than 30 days despite the Holidays and winter weather.
It was done entirely by citizens, not by hired signature collectors.

Thanks Brian & Mike for the accolades for our hardy troops who spent less than 25 days gathering those 3468 signatures in the cold!! An unbelievable effort by citizens who really care about each other, all Lakewood residents and their City. With 2686 of those signatures certified as valid, it is just a matter of time before we have the opportunity to vote on this issue.
