Our photographer is on scene at St. Edward High School, where the Eagles just beat St. Ignatius 83-80 in a double overtime thriller.
This is the Eagles sixth straight win over the Wildcats.
Once Alex posts the photos, I'll add some to the thread.

Re: Instant Classic at St. Ed's
What a great game! Sometimes games that have a lot of hype don't live up to their hype. This one sure did in a nail-biting double overtime thriller. I've seen lots of basketball, played it, coached it and shot it for NIKE back in NYC. This was easily the largest HS crowd I've seen. They packed their gym all the way up to the rafters. Just check out some of my photos.
Here's my NYC observation. There's more showmanship and skill in NYC but here there's more fundamentally sound play centered around team play.

BTW, St. Edward HS coach Eric Flannery is a nationally renown coach: http://www.usab.com/basketball/staff/f/ ... nnery.aspx

Re: Instant Classic at St. Ed's
Anyone who ever mistakenly thinks for one moment that Lakewood is going down the tubes has only to look at the photos from this amazing man.
His own commitment to his newly adopted city, the commitment of all these parents students and staff to this city, and of course, the wonderful commitments of all of our Lakewood Schools....
Wowie....
Sometimes, it takes someone coming from outside to remind all of us about the great place that is Lakewood. Having taught at St. Ed's early in my career, and having written (with my dear late father) a song for the Eagles, I offer them congratulations on this day!

The St. Edward March

We fly on wings of Eagles' power, We are the golden and the green,
And we shall ever show our honor, to Our Lady, the Holy Queen!
And when the Eagles join together, it's true we ever shall recall,
St. Edward and our Lord's own story, one God Who triumphs over all!
We shall remember what we learned here, and with our lives, examples show,
That we are servants of Our Savior, and in that service, we all shall grow!
And when the Eagles join together, it's true we ever shall recall,
St. Edward and our Lord's own story, one God Who triumphs over all!
