Improvisation Performance/Workshop JAN 9 at Beck Center

Post by Matthew Charboneau »

Beck Center for the Arts Presents an Improvisation Performance/Workshop with the In2ative Duo
Saturday, January 9th
2:00 to 4:00pm

Join the highly creative duo, In2ative (Kimberly Zaleski, flute and Trevor Kazarian, cello) as they discuss and demonstrate their approach to improvising while incorporating many diverse styles of music into their performance. Their music features original compositions, so there will be an emphasis on song writing as well. Instrumentalists are encouraged to bring their instrument and join in an interactive jam session - experiencing what it's like to play by ear and create your own music. Vocalists and non-musicians are also welcome. For all those interested, there will even be a beginner's guide to beat-boxing. Don't miss out on this fun and energetic music workshop! For more information on In2ative visit http://www.in2ativeduo.com

"The music created by avant-garde, flute and cello duo, In2ative offers a great example of how two apparently different musical cultures can come together and create something truly astonishing."
-Andrea Caccese, CMUSE music news

Matthew, thanks for the information. The Beck Center is a wonderful place for kids. We are lucky to have it here in Lakewood.

Thanks for the kind words, Lori.

N.B. This particular workshop is open to all ages 12 and up - so it would be great for students and adults alike. The basic goal is to show how to play music "beyond the written page," and improvise creatively.

Best,

Matt
