Around 2:00 A.M. New Year's Day morning, a call went out for two people that had been stabbed inside a house at 12955-57 Emerson, between Donald & Nicholson. Details are sketchy at this point. However, it can be confirmed that the home's occupants were attempting to keep the accused "stabber" held down until police arrived. Neighbors reported screaming before "all hell broke loose", so to speak. Residents in the neighborhood also report that the home is rental property and has been a problem in the past.
The extent of the victim's injuries are unknown at this point. However, one victim appeared to be stable and conscious. It is currently unknown if anyone was arrested as a result of this incident. At least one person was taken to the hospital.

Tough Start To New Year
By 3am this morning, Lakewood Emergency Services were pushed to the limit and more. The real start of the nightmare seemed to be a party on Emerson where three people were stabbed and the assailant was grabbed and kept in a room by a group of males around 1:00am. This sent ambulance heading that way as all three needed medical assistant and were taken to the hospital. At the same time fire and police were called to the Mayfair Apartments for a fire alarm. Which was convenient as the Fire Department was at the apartments on Bonnieview clearing smoke and making sure nothing was burning. Moments after finding out it was a false alarm, a fight broke out, and someone was stabbed in the back of the neck at the Mayfair while two people took off. In the same period someone was robbed with a knife at Warren and Madison, then came the three car accident on Mars with injuries, shutting down Mars and keeping crews busy until after 3am.
By the time 3am rolled into Lakewood 6 knife incidents, many fights, and some car accidents.
Lakewood Police and Fire handled it all extremely well, even Rocky River pitched in! Good work on a busy night.
Let's hope the rest of 2016 is happier.

Three people were taken to the hospital with stab wounds. The assailant was caught and held for the police at the party. There were 5 other knife incidents this morning.

It appears that James O. Butler of Garfield Heights has been arrested in connection with the robbery near BP. He was also charged with drug paraphernalia. However, this was dismissed.
He is no stranger to getting in trouble in Lakewood. In 2014, he was cited for driving while suspended and again in November 2013 for using illegal license plates. He has also been in trouble in Cleveland for something to do with a fugitive, being drunk in public twice, felony drug abuse twice, trespassing, and open container. He is fifty-two years old.
His Lakewood robbery charge will likely be bound over to the county.
