In the past two weeks I've seen 3 different store fronts repairing their broken display/front windows which I believe were all due to vandals breaking them with bricks or stones. Anybody hear solid details about these incidents or know if someone has been caught?
I know the hospital is on everyone's minds, but this is really crappy. Those windows are expensive and but probably still fall underneath the shop owners deductibles.

SunPost said they caught one guy who broke the glass to get into one (or more) of the storefronts. Apparently the broken glass got the better of his human body - and the cops followed the trail of blood down to - guess where - the nearest Emergency Department - at Lakewood Hospital, of course.
You are right, that broken storefront glass is very expensive, and some policies exclude coverage for it. Not to mention the sudden mess the shopowner has to clean up, and quickly; and inventory and verify the loss.
For a whole lot of reasons, including this kid's injuries, vandalism and theft need to be stopped in Lakewood (elsewhere, too).
Some of these thefts may be to get drug money, and we know there is a huge need for intervention and inpatient treatment for addicts who live right here. They shouldn't have to check in at a place in Mentor or Rock Creek to get treatment. We have plenty of beds, right here. Inpatient is usually about 28-30 days and there is intensive on-premise group therapy, support groups, introspective exercises, etc.

There has been an enormous increase in breaking and entering in Lakewood over the past six weeks. I have spoken with a few of the owners and they appear to be not to pleased with the job that our Safety Director is doing. Apparently he has spent so much time on his hospital deal that I believe he is letting the rest of the city run wild. I feel that we need to support our business owners. They bring both jobs and money to the city.

Well, this goes to show that there is not a single topic or problem that cannot be laid at the feet of the Lakewood Hospital deal. Don't even need Six Steps of Lakewood Hospital to get there, too.
1) Random crime happens in city that is not stopped by vigilant police force.
2) Criminal bleeds and heads to Lakewood Hospital ER to get help.
3) Police catch him there.
4) If there were no Hospital then they would never have caught the criminal!
BINGO! Only four steps!
or even quicker....
1) Random crime happens in city that is not stopped by the distracted police force since their boss is letting them run wild without supervision because of the Lakewood Hospital deal.
See, one step. Amazing.
I guess I am trolling at this point, sure, just to get that out of there. I apologize but it is pretty funny at this point.
