Veterans, Your Attention Please...

To Lakewood's Veterans and their families:

There are two community activities of note this week. honoring your service.

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m. The Lakewood Schools will commence their Veterans Breakfast and Recognition Assembly at Garfield. Veterans will also have the opportunity to speak to classes afterwards about their experiences while in the service.

On Wednesday Morning, Lakewood's veterans and their families will assemble at the Lakewood Park Memorial at 11:00 a.m. for a program, followed by refreshments at the Women's Pavilion.

When my son was in sixth grade at Garfield, he helped serve the breakfast to the Veterans and had the opportunity to speak with your dad. Your dad and my son's grandmother gave him a lot of information about the war. I thank your dad for touching my son's life so profoundly. He researches every person running for every office, ( including judges ), and has never missed voting in an election since his 18th birthday. Tomorrow we celebrate Veterans Day. I encourage all of you that when you see someone in uniform, stop and thank them for their service. It is because of people like them that we have the right to come on the Deck and voice our opinions.
