If it was Hot Sauce Williams of Whitmores I would not be able to keep it quiet. Bill Williams and I have history going back to 1971, when we used to go to his shop on Euclid late at night for shoulder sandwiches. I was one of the first customer's through the door on Buckeye. My wife and I still make the run to Woodland, as I see "The Wing Feast" as one of the great deals of all time. I love everything on the menu with the exceptions of Ribs. Bill Sr. was always disappointed that his ribs did not move me. When Bill retired and his son took over, I went from "Obie" to "that crazy Irish cracker that don't know s*** about ribs." all said in fun with love.
I would always answer, "why would I eat those meatless nasty things with Whitmore's just another 5 minutes down the road." Which was always good for a chuckle at the Buckeye shop at 11:00pm.
Sorry to say, nope.

restaurant
This is a rough one.
Small probably means carry-out of some limited dining area.
Doesn't compete with anything already here.
That covers a lot of ground. There are some great suggestions earlier in this thread, but beyond that I have a rough time coming-up with a type of food that is not available in Lakewood. That is a good thing.

Curious as to why anyone would be dying for a starbucks?
Caribou and Phoenix Coffee serving places not good enough?
Anyway there's a starbucks at 116th if yer dying.................
John
You miss the point entirely. While Phoenix Coffee, owned by Carl Jones, who started Arabica, which was the study for Starbucks(one of Carl's college roomates) is not good enough. I mean it is local, how on earth could that coffee possibly be good?
We need to get one of those cool little logos on the cup to make it taste better. I mean that upside pyramid is silly.
Have a great special on bottled water where fix couples are asked to compare waters and rate them. The most expensive water always won the taste test. The middle priced waters were up for discussion the table water was always the looser. The fact is all but the table water came from a nasty garden hose, all the same water, but even when shown the truth the couples refused to believe it. It was hilarious.
Yeah a Starbucks would make Lakewood so much better. Hmmmmmmm, er I meant baaaaaaaa baaaaaaa baaaaaaaaa.
Speaking of sheep what Lakewood is missing is a good Jerk roadisde shack, where you can get fresh lamb, goat or chicken, and you know it is fresh because the vendor has a goat and chickens tied to a stake next to the shack. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm nothing better than good Jerk.

I noticed a Small Sushi place downtown this morning. It was on East 6th or 8th or 9th or Xth. There were a few tables. I don't remember the name, but it sounded like something that could be a franchise.
I know the old Big Boy/Bob Evans is a Japanese Steakhouse now, but a less casual sushi place is an unfilled niche. Unless those Vietnamese/Thai/Cambodian places on the eastern side have Sushi.
A pierogie place would be good. They could even kick it up a notch with Pasties and sheppard's pies.

Arthur Treachers and Hot Sauce both closed in the Old Arcade downtown. I tried Hot Sauce's ribs once and liked them, but I felt the catfish was not good as well as overpriced. Hot Sauce seemed to do a brisk business downtown, but I suspect he had trouble paying for the entire army of employees behind the counter. Then again, there have been many other casualties in that food court.
If Lakewood gets an Arthur Treachers, maybe it will go inside the Westerly as only the blue hairs seem to go there anymore.

Yah, Skyline is Cincinnati's own. That said, I still want a Skyline. It isn't the new restaurant going in, no doubt, but I want my 5 way!! I want it now!!
Actually, though I love the Skyline 3 thru 5 way dishes, I must say I liked the cheesy coney's from Goldstar (another Cincinnati original) better.
