NYC vs Lakewood politics
I reaffirmed something I already knew about politics from this election in Lakewood. 1) only a small percentage of the population votes 2) the status quo stays in power 3) opinions trump facts 4) big money runs the show 5) this is just a microcosm of big city politics like what I encountered in NYC

You weren't here when we defeated the Westend project, Alex, and tossed out the mayor that tried to jam it down our throats.
Also - there are about 52k people in Lakewood and ~20% of them are under 18 years old. It looks to me like about 13k voted (I base this on adding up the combined votes for Summer and Skindell - not the best method I'm sure). So, that means about 31% voted. That doesn't seem great but not that bad either.

Todd
By 47 votes.
Alex,
I might be wrong, but the big difference between NYC and here, we all have to look each other in the face and deal with each other afterwards.
Same density as Los Angles, same mindset as Mayberrry RFD.

Re: NYC vs Lakewood politics
This election proves that sometimes Goodness is not always immediately rewarded. Sometimes a darker side prevails.
Those who have the knowledge and did the homework on the issue(s) that drove this general election will continue to look to the future and work for Goodness.
Those who have made unholy alliances will be held accountable. They know who they are.
Those that voted for someone only because he is "a nice guy" will eventually learn a very hard lesson.
Those that voted for an issue because someone " that nice guy" told them to without doing some research/reading on their own will find unintended results of their votes.
The people have spoken and I do hope that we mend as a community.
But I will not stop the search for the TRUTH and the work to promote GOODNESS.
