Time for new leadership at the Observer

With its vicious hostility toward the Mayor Mike Summers administration, how can the Lakewood Observer survive another four years under Jim O'Byran's leadership? Answer: it can't.

The Battle for Lakewood Hospital is over. Build Lakewood has won. It's time to begin a period of healing and reconciliation. This can can only happen with new leadership at the Observer.

Like a African dictator or South American strongman, Jim O'Bryan won't go without an ugly fight. It's up to the Observer's readers and advertisers to make it clear. We need new leadership here, for the good of the city.

New leadership?? " When i think of Lakewood Observer no other leadership comes to mind other then Jim O'Bryan!! Does he not own the paper, im not sure you can oust the owner? if you don't like what you read, go get what you call facts from other News organizations, that only tell you what you want to hear... I know your just sticking the knife because of the election, but the fact of the matter is i like the fact that Jim is a say it the way it is kind of guy... If everyone took an interest in the place they live like Jim, each and every community would be better for it....

While the poster here has every right to an opinion, at the same time, there is such a thing as a loyal opposition in the political world.

There is no one here who has proposed greater unity and sing-a-long happiness in Lakewood than I have, but unity of a vision for a better Lakewood does not imply a lock-step agreement, nor should it ever be a single vision.

I have disagreed with Jim O'Bryan MANY times, as he would gladly tell you. That said, we both love this city, and we tolerate each other's differences, and that's as it should be in this wonderful place called Lakewood.

Jim O'Bryan and Michael Summers have so much more in common than either of them may realize. They are both dynamic individuals who care very much about our city, and are willing to put it out there and try and make a difference.

We now know that Mike's going to be around for awhile. I hope that Jim will be too.

Since when do elections mean we oust newspaper writers?

It's not a newspaper it's a personal blog on paper from various writers, and Jim is not a journalist. I've learned a great deal about the LO over the last few months that I didn't know before. I used to hit the Donut Pantry and grab one to read later, the only time I'll pick one up now is to use it to start my camp fires. Let Jim have his blog and phpbb forum, I think he has done himself quite a bit of harm allowing the SLH to take control of it. I know after today I won't be back to the Deck and never bother with another "Issue", hopefully you (and the advertisers) will be as well. Karma will bite him in the ass down the road.

Should it be tied to the Lakewood Hospital?

Would this provide more oversight or less oversight.

Pasquale, I have neither aligned myself with SLH, nor BL. Attended 2 SLH meetings.

Anyone else? Ideas?

No actually we do realize.
We have known each other since 2nd Grade.

As Mayor Summers said a couple months ago in the hallway of City Hall, "Jim, I finally figured us out! You think out of the right side of your brain, and I think out of the left."

I replied, "First time anyone said I think." and we all had a good laugh.

You can disagree, even strongly and still have friendship and a working relations.

Mike won, tough campaign. His first win of a contested campaign. I bet he feels damn good today.
