Summers narrowly wins reelection!
Summers crushed Skindell in the vote rich northern precincts and southwest corner of the city. Skindell did not do well enough among young people or renters. He lost because he ran a single issue campaign. In a close race, his Internet goon squad didn't help the cause either.
Here's to four more years of Mike Summers! And goodbye Lakewood Hospital.

Can you please provide a link to verify your findings? I am having trouble finding any information to confirm this. Maybe I just don't know where to look.

0 of 37 precincts have reported. That info comes directly from the Board of Elections. Not sure where you are getting your info but election results are not in.

No results were posted until 9 because of a problem in Cincinnati. It looks like the few votes up as of 9:20 are probably vote-by-mail ballots.

Cleveland.com has an article saying that the findings are preliminary, only counting absentee votes and no precincts.Danielle Masters wrote:0 of 37 precincts have reported. Re: Summers narrowly wins reelection!
The last two posters are correct - currently, absentee ballot results are the only thing available right now. Those show Summers with 54.9% and Skindell with 45.1%.
The Issue 64 race is much closer; it is nearly tied, with "no" votes being 1,498 and "yes" votes being 1,417.
I'm excited to see how everything shakes out! This one will go down to the wire!

Even better: the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. That's where all the media gets the results.

Yep, just as I said zero precincts reporting, the results that are in are only early and mail in ballots.Corey Rossen wrote:http://www.cleveland.com/lakewood/index ... obile_homeCorey Rossen wrote:Cleveland.com has an article saying that the findings are preliminary, only counting absentee votes and no precincts.Danielle Masters wrote:0 of 37 precincts have reported. Re: Summers narrowly wins reelection!
Looks like it'll be Summers, and based on current totals, I wouldn't peg a 55-45 margin as "narrow."
The hospital issue is too close to call, but as of this writing, voters are trending "no" by about 220 votes, an extremely thin margin.
I'm looking forward to the future of Lakewood, starting tomorrow. I'm anxious to see if SLH folks stick with the results of the election, or if this issue continues to plague our city. However the Issue 64 vote turns out, that's the chance for Lakewoodites to weigh in about the hospital, and I hope the results of the election put this issue to rest.
The future of Lakewood starts now. Congratulations to the winners, condolences to the losers. Let's get back to business.
Goodnight, Lakewood!
