Halloween Trick-or-Treating Reminder & Costume Ideas

Post by marklingm »

From City Hall:
Halloween Trick-Or-Treating Set For Saturday, October 31

September 18, 2015

The City of Lakewood will observe Halloween Trick-or-Treating between the hours of 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

The city is offering these safety tips for parents, residents and drivers:
•Parents should encourage their trick-or-treaters to be especially careful after sunset. If escorting their children, parents should carry a flashlight as an additional safeguard.
•Residents giving out candy and treats can help prevent accidents by reminding children to be especially careful crossing streets and to walk up and down steps, instead of running.
•Halloween night drivers should be especially vigilant. Motorists should drive more cautiously and be prepared to stop.

The following day — Sunday, Nov. 1 — also marks the end of Daylight Savings Time so residents are reminded to turn their clocks back one hour.

Here is a costume idea for those of you who want to dress up as Mike Summers and Ed FitzGerald:

Thanks for posting this.

This particular Halloween poses some additional safety risks for kids, so let's all be careful out there.

*The "Holy War" game is at 2pm, which means there will lots of extra traffic in town. Many of the fans will hang around after the game to celebrate, so some will be on the road during Trick or Treating. There will also be lots of extra cars parked on the streets of central Lakewood this afternoon, obstructing the ability of drivers to see kids crossing the street.

*Today is a Saturday, so adult revelers will be hitting our "bars and restaurant scene" this evening during trick or treat hours. That means additional parking and traffic problems, and increased risk of danger for the kids.

*Thanks to the Lakewood Police Department, which I'm sure will do a fine job handling this unique day, and help keep everyone safe.

Can both sides in the big debate agree to a temporary cease fire between 6 and 8 today?

Dan,

I will be walking around Wards 2 and 3 as Batman with my kids ... but I can't make any promises if I come across the Joker.

I know that if I run Stan will catch me.
If I hide he will find me.

I think I will stay in and lock my doors. And windows.

A warning to all,
The goblins are out there today and I got tricked instead of treated. Some apparently illiterate person hung a Summers sign on my door handle. Waste of resources seeing as I have a Skindell sign and a vote yes 64 sign in my yard.

Here is the list of Summers tricks:

1. Honest leadership
2 . Real results
3. Keep vital healthcare services
4. Lakewood is thriving
5. Hospital will continue losing $12 million+ a year
6. Empty bankrupt hospital or a huge tax hike on Lakewood residents

This is being sent to us by a honest leader.

How are you going to make up for 1 million plus dollars a year we will lose from the lease of the hospital?
How are you going make up for the lost payroll taxes, especially after business close down or move out of Lakewood?

I just pulled up my signs until 8 pm. No lack of commitment or worry about defacement, but I don't want them to be the cause of any children being exposed to the hostility around this issue.
