So much more will come out about the steps, actually many things, but people are waiting until after the election.

It is seriously way past, "please save the city the embarrassment..."

Interesting to note that several of the residents who were closely involved in the Kauffman basketball discussions are now some of the most vocal and most effective critics of the city's hospital plan and the mayor's re-election. We got to know the mayor in a new way in that time.

Jim Blockside was a wonderful and caring Lakewood City employee. dl meckes had nothing but praise for the man. I wish that he hadn't retired.

The late Bob Seelie was a great Lakewood City councilman. It's too bad the Solstice Steps aren't wheelchair accessible. Jim Blockside and other Lakewood City leaders thought the promenade down to the water's edge was important to be accessible for all. Here is a quote from Nickie Antonio,

Former colleague, now State Representative Nickie Antonio remembers, “Knowing no limits, Bob was a great role model for those differently abled. A favorite memory of mine was when we cut the ribbon at Lakewood Park of the new promenade. Bob led the procession down the new walkway, his face beaming as we proceeded to the bottom to view the lake and the Cleveland skyline.”

We need to keep and find City employees and council people who are caring, knowledgeable, and play well with others. Is it time to open the windows and let the sun shine in at Lakewood City Hall?

Nowlin, Human Resources Director, and what looked like another councilperson spotted up at Lakewood Park with a channel 5 news crew. Get ready for a puff piece on the evening news!. You can't cover up crap with puff. :D

Great shots but considering the cloudy day, it reminded me of a mob funeral.

Now you have to wonder, what is buried under the concrete, or with the concrete?

$2.1 million in concrete, maybe all of them.

But as the pharaohs showed us, when building temples to one's self, stone is the hardest to knock down, when they are done with you.

Thank you, Jim and Corey!

That is the friendly banter that I love to read on the Deck.

I know we all take things too seriously from time to time.

Thank you, again, for the good humor!

Now, back to a serious note ...

I see one of the masterminds behind the fake "newspaper" folly ... but where was Mike Summers' puppet master - err ... co-conspirator ... err ... Ed FitzGerald?

Did Summers forget to pick Fitz! up on the way to the ribbon cutting bash?

Both Summers and Fitz! love good photo ops ... and I'm sure that folks can still drive with a learner's permit if there is someone in the car with a "big boy" driver's license.

Never mind.

There will be another photo op tonight.

Perhaps Summers can swing by and grab Fitz! on his way to the Solstice Steps Celebration tonight?

If so, I hope that Alex can capture that elusive photo of Summers and Fitz! together ... both in front of the curtain.

Matt
