My 1st exclusive accident event shoot!

Post by Alex Belisle »

Heard a loud bang around 6 am at the end of my street near the Drugmart on Grace and Detroit. I figured that Jim is always getting these exclusives , so I went back to bed but then thought "Hmm . . . maybe I can beat Jim to the punch?"

Got dressed, grabbed my camera and walked to the site. Turned out that a beer truck (they seem to be ubiquitous here in Lakewood) hit a low overhanging wire and knocked the whole pole down on the Garfield MS side of Detroit across from Drugmart. Wires weren't live so I was able to get some shots.

Are the telephone lines down also? I've been trying to call my daughter off of school and my son out for lunch today. And it's been busy for and hour.

Gee, at least there's nothing "phone-y" about this thread...

Thinking about phones, anyone out there remember party lines? (where multiple homes shared the same line and people sometimes listened in on the neighbors?)

Sorta reminds me of what people do these days with chat rooms...

The more things in life change, I guess the more they seem to stay the same...

Glad everyone was apparently fine in the accident! :D

Back to the banjo... :D

I must have just missed it, Alex.

Nice job by the Lakewood City Schools, too:

This morning a utility pole on Detroit Avenue was damaged in front of Garfield Middle School, severing fiber lines to the school. The building is without Internet and phone service for the day. If you have an emergency and need to contact the school, please call the Board of Education at 529-4092 and the message will be relayed to Principal Walter. Thank you.

Alex

I just love you man!

Even this was treated like Fashion Week in the Garment Districts of New York.

Thank you for choosing Lakewood.
