HERD BEHAVIOR - A Lakewood "Observer"
Herd behavior describes how individuals in a group can act collectively without centralized direction. The term can refer to the behavior of animals in herds, packs, bird flocks, fish schools and so on, as well as the behavior of humans in demonstrations, riots and general strikes,[1] sporting events, religious gatherings, episodes of mob violence and everyday decision-making, judgment and opinion-forming
I am sorry, but I try to follow Lakewood Observer and take in all perspectives of this debate for Lakewood Hospital. However, the more I read the perspective/"facts" of individuals on the observer and how cruel people can be, it absolutely amazes me. I see the same 10 - 15 individuals feeding off each others comments/negativity and celebrating how "witty" they can be when mocking others. The posts remind me of herd behavior. This is not a place of open dialogue and respect...
I see that Jim is trying to create more of a "code" for positing on the observer, but even that request was mocked by the "herd" of followers.
Ultimately, the behavior and environment which is created here may lose you all of your credibility and what you are (and I respect) are trying to achieve.

Here is the link to Jim's thread asking if we needed new rules and inviting BL people to comment. Read it for yourself.
Where are the "cruel comments?" Where were people mocking anyone?

Well, this post is certainly a great way to get the positive discussion flowing, Joe.Joseph Hildebrandt wrote:(I am a build supporter but I still like open dialogue and seek to further understand both sides)
I've posted on the Deck for a long time and the story of Deck-haters is always the same:
- Complain about the host.
Complain about the house.
Complain about the dinner table.
Complain about the drinks.
Complain about the appetizers.
Complain about the entertainment.
Complain about the meal.
Complain about the dessert.
Complain about the conversation.
Complain when nobody hugs you and says "goodbye" as you leave.
Complain when nobody hugs you and says "hello" when you show up on our step next.

Bridget,
With respect, my point has just been made. Instead of acknowledging or accepting a person point of view; You send me a link to a thread. Just because there is a single thread that may not be negative there are many posts on observer that are. What happened to threads on all the great things going on in our community! there was announcement about the Sullivan's finally being filled with a respectful and amazing establishment (if you haven't been there in the heights, I recommend it).

Yet another BL supporter that comes here with NO FACTS to back up his statement.Joseph Hildebrandt wrote:Bridget,

Bridget asked for an example where someone was mocked, Joseph had no answer.

Why am I labelled as a BL supporter mike? My observation wouldn't be any different if I was BL or SLH.

Thanks for taking part in the discussion.
As a build Lakewood Supporter you must know what is going to be built. Can you tell us here?
The Clinic increased administrative charges from nothing to $24 million per year and the Hospital still made money.
Would you like to know what happened to the money?

I think there needs to be more than one banjo on the Deck. Better order more, pronto.

Re: HERD BEHAVIOR - A Lakewood "Observer"
Joseph,
Here are two observations still over at the BL FB:
Walter ____Here's what I am asking the Build Lakewood group to do, which I think they have done poorly so far. I've borrowed these from Bruce Hennes, a crisis communications expert in Cleveland. And most people view the closing of Lakewood Hospital, our largest employer, as a crisis: “Rule No. 1 is ‘tell the truth’ because the truth always comes out in the end” Rule No. 2 is “tell it first.” Do not wait until the media knock on your door. Rather, make it a priority to get ahead of the news cycle. Whoever tells the story first generally determines the trajectory of that story. Rule No. 3 is “tell it all.” While a crisis situation likely involves confronting hard issues, avoiding those issues may have disastrous consequences. “Tell everything you are legally, ethically and morally allowed to tell,” advised Hennes, adding, “if you don’t tell it all, I guarantee you someone else will.”
Pamela Boden Smith Walter. Please take a look at the information on the BuildLakewood website.
Walter ____ I've looked at it, it only presents one side of the issue. My main concern is the loss of well-paying jobs - will a development opportunity of retail and housing, and a modest health clinic replace that? I am doubtful
So you and your clan come around and complain about tone and call people bullies and now "animals" and pretend your on the high road.
Becky Patton sums up the whole crowd--you all think everyone is too stupid to see through the hoax.
So even your own guy says tell the whole story---you can't---because the whole thing crumbles if you do.
Please do keep them coming here--you are proving the case against your cause---desperation that the goodies from the new foundation are slipping from your reach.

You labelled yourself a Build Lakewood supporter in the first post.Joseph Hildebrandt wrote:Why am I labelled as a BL supporter mike? My observation wouldn't be any different if I was BL or SLH.
Plus, you are working from their script.
