This afternoon I was driving slowly, up one of our Lakewood streets with my 11 year old daughter walking the sidewalk next to me.
(We were on a hunt for something that had been dropped the other day.)
As I was driving another car pulled up next to me going the other direction and had stopped. I looked over to him with a bit of concern, only to be confronted by him. He had asked me if it was my child that I was following. I then told him yes it was and explained the situation. Then he replied that he was just making sure because he lives in the neighborhood and he wanted to make sure that everything was OK. He then also added that there is a lot of freaks out there and wanted to make sure she wasn't in danger.
I can't even explain how much that means to me. It touched me deeply to see the concern of another Lakewood resident. I could only hope that anyone that sees anything suspicious speaks up. Maybe it will make our city just a little bit safer.
I just want to say thanks again to our concerned residents.
Thanks to our Lakewood residents!

While designing the rally course the past couple years we have one or two men driving in a car very slowly as we count mileage, signs, streets, etc. Usually we can see one or two people writing down out license plate as we drive. DL has heard us called into the police as well. It would seem the city can be very observant when it needs to be. But it should never get complacent. Your story is reassuring.
Another good story, is, I park in a public lot with a fair amount of driving and foot traffic. I left a scanner worth about $150 next to my car. When I came out at the end of the day a person had picked it up and placed it in the luggage rack on my car. Lucky, i suppose, but I also think it says a lot about the security in the city and the make-up of our neighbors.
