Worst case of abuse I have seen...

Post by Missy Limkemann »

I have been doing rescue for years now. I have seen the horrors of abuse, the horrors of puppy mills, and yes even dog fighting rings. I have been to homes where the stench and the garbage would knock you out. I have pulled hairless dogs out of ditches, and fixed many broken things. Yesterday I was given the worst. Another city dog warden (NOT Lakewood city...) asked for my help, and I could not deny them the help. That is not my nature. I was not prepared for this.

This little baby, named Jack, is about 8 pounds underweight. He has a broken nose, and broken leg. He was starved, beaten and left for dead. We have been to the vet already and his work will be extensive. Jack is about a year old if even that and we are thinking he is a Manchester Terrier (or min-pin as they both are similar but we wont know for sure till we get some more weight on him) He is on cage rest now for the leg and then in 3 weeks we will re-xray and go from there. We are looking at a surgery to fix the leg. There is nothing we can do for the nose...

This shows the gash on his nose, but not a good one of the break

This doesnt include the 11 year old yorkie that came in that needs 1300 dollars worth of surgery to save.

Again, the more people I meet, the more they scare me.

Missy you are an angel for the work you do. That poor dog is very lucky to have someone as compassionate as you to help him.

My brother and his girlfriend do a lot of work with the shelter in Port Clinton and a couple of years ago they adopted Hope. She is a beautiful little dog who was so badly abused that she lost the use of her back legs but of course that doesn't stop her from getting around.

It is horrible that people can abuse these innocent creatures but it is wonderful that there are people in the world such as you to love them.

There is a special place in hell for people that would do that to an innocent.

That's horrible.
