New Grant School??!!!

Hi Matt,

Thank you for clarifying for everyone how they can sign up to be a part of the Phase III Steering Committee. At the last Steering Committee everyone was invited to let others know in our community that the committee is not closed and that they still can participate in the process. However, we did not discuss that individuals were required to contact the superintendent’s office. If this is the case, then I know everyone involved on the committee will receive this information. It is so important in our community that everyone who wants to participate feel welcome.

Members of PALS (Parent & Community Advocates for Lakewood Students) received this information because part of our mission is to help keep parents stay informed about what goes on in the school district. As you may know, it was decided that the Phase III Steering Committee will be meeting over the summer. Therefore, PALS members were asked to “replyâ€￾ back so that the meeting agenda would be sent to them. I will know that information by Wednesday.

I am glad that you read your PALS email. It is refreshing to have you as well as other board members on our list. It sends a positive signal to parents about how much you care about our school district, and the important role that parents play in the education of their children.

What I am trying to get across is that, I can come up with five different "ideas" before I take my morning shower and I bet if I post them here I can get at least a couple of others to tell me its a great idea and we should go for it.
But there not all valid and there not all worth taking up taxpayer money chasing them.

My question remains, when all is said and done, of the five BOE members, the mayhor, and the 7 council members, is anyone taking this thing seriously? If they are not I will drop the subject. If they are I will work to defeat it.

I dont care about Westlake or signs.

I don't believe they can comment on it until the committee has vetted it and any other idea presented to us. Guess you'll have to wait until the process is complete and committee has done it's job

Fact check time with 4 months to go before the vote the big panic was WILL IT PASS. Luckily a very good and very real case was made that one levy without the other would give us empty new schools. It was so tight at the time, the LO Board threw out their no political campaigning/backing rule to help push it through. It was one of the few things the LO Board has ever been unanimous on.

My point, was the first one was in pretty good times, or at least many did not see the economic nightmare on the horizon. It would seem much easier to lay it out and push it through. I will admit hindsight is 20/20, but, it seems a little disingenuous to allow anyone to think it is not a three vote program.

it was just fundraising, er I mean vote getting time.

Also I have no problem agreeing with much of Diane's post, she is smart, a mother, involved, and motivated.

I am just amused that for some world it has to happen in a vacuum, and while in that vacuum others cannot talk about it.

I mean if a doctor from the Cleveland Clinic finds the cure for cancer on bark, does he discount it because it did not come through a interoffice memo of cancer specialists? OR do they look at the idea and vet it? When his peers find out it is the formula for silly putty, he gets a little heat, if it is the cure he gets the Nobel Prize.
