there was a sign on the window awhile ago that said something like "due to the economy we are closing our doors, thank you for everything" Dont quote me on that wording, but it was something like that.

hylander restaurant

I have heard several reasons why they closed. Business was certainly a factor which caused a late rent payment and then eviction from the owner of the building. This is all hearsay mind you. It is a shame, perfect location and a lot of Lakewood's elderly ate there. ( No dad, I am not referring to you :D )I would think a late or partial payment would be better than no payment. I hope someone opens up a great little diner there.

It's been closed since at least the weekend before St. Patrick's Day.

I remember somebody telling me shortly after the first of the year that the Hylander shut down, if it took everyone on the Observation Deck until late March to notice it was gone, it must not be really missed too much.

I believe many people miss the Hylander. Perhaps the late notice here simply shows that many people in Lakewood choose not to post their opinions/thoughts/concerns on this message board.

i didnt post anything because I just figured everyone else knew and I hate to post things that are already "in the know"....you know like beating the dead horse. LOL.

I think however, it would be cool to open up a restaurant there that is "dog frendly"....how coold would that be.

Missy:

here is a place I used to frequent. Dogs are welcome on the patio:

Lucky Labrador Brewing Company http://www.luckylab.com/

We used to take our Lab with us there.
