Butler Sighting!

While sitting at Phoenix this morning Dennis Butler came strolling in
looking happy and fit though walking a little slower than normal. I could
not help but smile and feel good.

For those that do not know, Dennis Butler is the father of the councilman from
Ward One Kevin Butler and truly one of the grand characters of Lakewood
and politics and courtrooms around the state. He is also one of my favorite
people to run into and share an occasional drink with.

Dennis is also famous for holding "court" at The Place To Be on special mornings
where he can talk with his table and every other table in the
place at the same time! Also known as the stately gentleman riding the
riding the vintage red Vespa around town.

Dennis fell from a ladder last winter while helping a neighbor cut some
tree branches down that were a problem. He broke his back and neck,
and for some time it was questionable if and when he would ever walk
again. Rushed to Lakewood Hospital, where he credits the crew at the
Detroit/Kenilworth Fire Station for not just saving his life but "doing
everything correctly" so that recovery was possible.

After 3 months of very intensive rehab work it was great seeing his
smiling face walk into Phoenix. It was also nice to here that he is back
in court working and that he sees Scooter riding in his future.

He is our scooter pack leader....so we are waiting anxiously until he can lead us on new scooter trips again!

He looks great and its great to see his humor back again too!

Kind of you to post on this, Jim. Dad's scooter hankerings aside, we're all excited about his recovery and very thankful for all the people, including the firemedics, who helped him get back on his feet.
