St. Pats Day

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

I was amazed on such a green day that the sunset was actually
very, very orange.

So I went out walking down Detroit, and every bar was packed, the streets were alive, and Lakewood's "Entertainment District" was alive as it would have been in Chicago or Boston.

It was a nice walk on a warm spring night.

Jim-

I would like to argue that the economic downturn took a one day break!

I was in the parade downtown with the Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Pipes and Drums. Every bar I saw was packed beyond capacity. And from the condition of those from high school age to in their 70's, there was plenty of money to be spent on green beer.

Then when returning to Lakewood to play the pipes at a couple local taverns, I found the business more than steady, but found that there were far less people out of control. It was good to come home and see that things were more sane in Lakewood.

But trust me, the money was still flowing in to the city one pint at a time.

Great photo, and a great day.

Thanks Jim.
