Christmas Music - Favorites

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This year my favorites would have to be the new

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Jingle All The Way

Bela has brought back his Touvian Throat Singers for this.

and

Stephen Colbert's A Colbert Christmas

Both of them are musts for any Christmas Collection.

My favorite new Christmas CD is by Mandisa.

My favorite of the new songs is Christmas Makes me Cry.

We enjoyed the Colbert Christmas DVD too. Particularily the Toby Keith Spoof.

I also got the Elvis Duet CD and that was great. The one that I missed was Paris Bennet's Christmas CD.

I cannot stop listening to this version of "have yourself a merry little christmas". There is a rap improvisation in the middle about Santa.

Favorite Christmas music? That's really easy, at least for me.

Favorite Christmas musician would of course be Burl Ives. My grandpa's favorite musician, a man (my grandpa that is) who was my greatest positive influence. Worked his ass off and rode his bike until almost 90. Died at 98 many years ago. You go grandpa!

And of course Silent Night is the most wonderful Christmas song ever written, without a doubt.

Combining the musician and the music, and combing youtube, this is the best I have come up with. Close your eyes to ignore the somewhat-cheesy video and just enjoy Burl and the music.........

And thanks for asking....
