Stopped by to grab a bite to eat at one of Lakewood's newest establishments and I was pretty impressed.

Excellent service, cool atmosphere, and most importantly... fantastic food. Homemade pickles, delicious gourmet burgers, and some great sides. And when we got the bill, dinner for two was pretty reasonable.

If you're near Detroit and Westake Ave., I'd recommend supporting this place.

Haven’t been to the new one yet. There used to be a Cafe 56 in the Euclid Arcade not too long ago. Wasn’t too impressed.

Maybe this one is different? :)

Very happy this place opened since it is right by my house.

I had high hopes that this would be a really nice little neighborhood restaurant when I first saw the signs go up in the windows a few months ago. Got around to going last Friday night and I wasn't disappointed. The staff was very nice and eager to please. A good bottled beer selection is a must for Lakewood, and 56 West had me covered with a nice extra-hoppy IPA (don't remember which). We had a tasty build-your-own-bruschetta type appetizer and then got on to the sandwiches. I had a tasty ahi tuna sandwich (especially like the wasabi mayo), but I have to admit that my wife's veggi burger with goat cheese and tomatoes was better. Very affordable, too. Our meal, with drinks and appetizer was under 50 bucks with tip for two people. skip the drinks and appetizer and it would have been just over 20! Looking forward to going back.

Went the other evening with a friend. The hamburger was excellent. The homemade ketchup was a little to spicy for me but my friend gladly ate it.

Didn't care for the pickle, it was crisp it was soggy. Some people like them like the. My friend with the hollow leg thought it was great.

I was very happy with the waiter and the staff.

Good little place.

This is my edit - I like crisp but it was soggy.

Ate there this afternoon.

Burger was very good, and different from WestEnd, Coffee Pot, Beer Engine.

Onion Rings a tad greasy, but good.

Two people, total bill under $25.

My mother went last week and has told me repeatedly how wonderful and affordable it is. I'll give it a try one of these days.

Their $10 meal is a deal. I had salmon, potatoes and a salad. The portions are not large but they are enough and they are what a portion should be. The service was very good. The dessert was excellent. The guy who makes the dessert makes the desserts for a major hotel here in Cleveland.

Restaurants in Crocker Park are paying $25,000 or $30,000 a month rent. Many are operating in the red. There is opportunity their somewhere.

We, and other are very lucky. There are many great places to eat in Lakewood for "the burger" that are as cheap or cheaper than McDonalds. You just have to be willing to get out of the car or call ahead.
