FT Cover Story

Interesting article in this week's Free Times about Neo-Nazis.

After some searching online, I found the list of NA members the article was referring to:

I guess there are more of 'em around here than I had originally thought.

David, there are a lot of misconceptions about the "north" and its part in the civil rights struggle. Too often we assume the heroes' role when in fact we are very close to the belly of the beast.

Cynthia Carr's memoir "Own Town" discusses the lynching that took place in Marion, Indiana in 1930. In the course of her book, it is revealed that during the 1920s Indiana had the greatest number of KKK in the country, was the only state to have a Klan in each county and boasted that every elected official including the governor was a member. So much for the quiet midwest.

Just recently the Southern Poverty Law Center published a report on the military and white supremicists. It is very disturbing. While we focus on terrorists who are easily distinguishable by sight, we forget that Tim McViegh was a blue eyed, blond haired all American boy.

Suzanne:

Indeed. When a went to IU, Bloomington, there was a large and very active KKK in Martinville (reputed the birthplace of the KKK) just a short drive south. There have also been recent events in the Wayne COunty area of recruitment.

Fun fact - The NRA was started the day the KKK was publicly disbanded. Of course we know some just couldn't give up the hatred.

I hope everyone will take a look at the link from SPLC. The fact that these groups are permitted to infiltrate our military to take advantage of the training with the plan to use it against us is frightening. I read the line about the next war being "door to door" and my neck hairs stood on end.

Oh, heck, we love education! We'll train anybody!

We helped train bin Laden.
