The Lakewood Sun Post has a nice editorial on Chas Geiger following his resignation.

Geiger's replacement will face some real challenges, including wrapping up a major rebuilding project in the city's schools. Even though that project is well under way, voters must decide on its third phase. Also, the district has not asked for an additional operating levy in seven years, so it's likely such a request could face voters within the next couple of years.
In addition, Superintendent David Estrop announced his plans to leave office at the end of the school year, so the board has actively started seeking his replacement. Geiger said he will not play a role in selecting Estrop's successor.

So, as the year winds down, board members are accepting applications to fill Geiger's position. We're confident they'll find a good replacement and we wish that person well as he or she prepares to meet the challenges ahead.
We also offer a sincere thank you to Geiger for his many years of dedicated service to the schools and the community. His dedication, experience and know-how will be hard to replace.

It is a testament to this great city that people like Chas Geiger and the other members of the Board Of Education have given so much of their time and energy to the children of Lakewood.
To echo the sentiments already stated here, and elsewhere, Lakewood owes a debt of gratitude to Chas Geiger for all that he has done and continues to do for our city.

Linda Beebe is actually the longest-serving member of the board with 25 years of service.Losing a Lakewood legend, Editorial, Lakewood Sun Post (Dec. 11, 2008) wrote:After 22 years, Geiger decided to retire from the board at the end of the year.

The longest-serving member of the board, Geiger was easily re-elected in November 2007 to another four-year term. He spent this year serving as president, a term that traditionally rotates annually among board members.

Again, it seems that no one involved with the Observer can promote the enterprise without slamming someone else.

Read your post, one might think the same as your post.
By the way, I am not slamming them or the PD, but the company is Sun News Inc.

I'm a bit surprised at your snarkiness towards Ms. Becker. Thealexa is a high school student and one with a pretty impressive list of accomplishments. She's someone Lakewood should be proud to have at our high school. She makes our average stats go up. Why the attack?
Technically, Thealexa is correct, anyway. The Sun Post is merely the name on the banner of the Lakewood version of the Sun News, previously owned by Sun Newspapers and now by the same people that own the Plain Dealer.

Actually, I believe the inverse, people who live in glass house should be able to return fire when fired upon.
While it is great to sit on the sidelines disinterested in the actual process, and then yell "put me in coach." sometimes the reality is far different.
I was personally wondering where Dee's comments were when the Sun came after us as well as other places that seem to thrive on attacking the LO, simply because they cannot put it up in the public frame work.
But that lasted only a second, and life moved on.
