AGS/Observer Inc. Prepares

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

AGS and our VAR, Observer, Inc. prepares to launch the largest civic journalism project every attempted.

A consortium of businesses, colleges, universities, and non-profits have approached Lakewood based AGS Software, Inc. and Observer Inc. about starting what is easily the largest civic journalism project ever attempted.

As with all of our efforts, the project will be community owned, controlled, and will generate funding and assistance for schools, libraries, and non-profits in the large footprint.

They demanded the "LAKEWOOD Observer, Inc." model. They see it as one of the great community building, economic development tools available to communities.

Once again, I must give kudos to Lakewoodites. We, have put up more than anyone could have ever imagined. Many said it would not work. They were wrong. This is only because we have a very good, engaged group of citizens, that understands to move a city forward in these tough times, it takes a person willing to put it out there and answer tough questions and take ownership of their words. That ideas without follow through is merely talk. That the days of secrecy, and shady back room deals are over. Transparency is the word of the new millennium.

To everyone that has taken the time to be a part of the Lakewood Observer Project on any and all levels. Thank you, for highlighting the city in a positive, global light. Believe it or not, Lakewood is becoming nationally known for the music, arts, great place to live, store fronts, openness, and cool.

A special thank you to my board and volunteers, to the Lakewood Hospital and all advertisers, The Lakewood Public Library, and a City Hall that understands the upside in getting information out to the residents of the city, and partnering with them on that city's future.

Damn I love this city and my neighbors.
