Ken Warren Announces Retirement!
In this issue of the Lakewood Observer you will be able to read the story of the Lakewood Public Library's Director Kenneth Warren, has decided to step down and work on other projects.
While I would hope the Library Board would try to convince the "Wizard of Lakewood," to stay on. I fear it is a case of, "some will not know what they lost until he is gone."
More to follow.

Ken Warren stands out as one as Lakewood's finest leaders.

The most influential person in Lakewood, moves into his next phase of life, on his terms. Ken moves on at the top of his field, and building one of the best libraries in the country.
While I could look backward, I prefer right now to look forward for Ken
Warren and family. He gave Lakewood 25 of the best years of his life,
and I am sure someday, people will see it as the best years of Lakewood's
life.
I for one cannot wait to read Ken's book, and work with him on other projects
that may come along.
Mr. Warren, thank you for everything.
I mean that.
peace/love

Um Ken, if you're looking for a new challenge, I think I read somewhere that the Lakewood School board is looking for a new superintendent.
Even if it's not something you've considered, I have a hard time immagining you NOT being successful in whatever you chose to do.
Worth a shot anyway.
Well, if nothing else, I suggest that we do something to honor Kens service to the city. Perhaps we can name a street after him. Someone get a sharpie and a ladder, all we have to do is add the letters K E N to Warren Road.
Seriously, thank you Ken, and good luck wherever you choose to go and in whatever you choose to do.

The Library has grown to be a great resource for the city, and a pillar of what we know as the Lakewood Brand. Mr. Warren has re-built our library from top to bottom with a good staff and a solid infrastructure. It will continue to grow and serve the community regardless of the change in leadership, because of the good staff and the people in the community who have embraced the changes and Mr. Warren's vision.
So I would not worry about the state of the Library, now that Mr. Warren has announced his retirement.
But, I do hear that our school system needs some strong leadership and vision, and Ken, my friend, you have all the credentials to make our schools #1 in the country, too.

It's bad enough that we are losing one of Lakewood's preeminent leaders, and a principal driving force behind our community library's renaissance...
...that's bad enough, to be sure.
But many people might not be aware that Mr. Warren is a heck of a drummer too!
We might never again have the opportunity to get a great Lakewood jazz band together!
Peace and happiness to you, and for yours, brother Ken.
You gave us more than we could have imagined.

Does this mean thet all the late fees under the Ken Warren era will be erased?
Ken, we'll miss you (but could you take the late fee records book with you?).
Great job on the new look library, from myself, my wife and my three children who have discovered heaven in books (while at "your" library).
