Why not make it an honorary position that pays one dollar a year?
Are there too many chiefs and not enough Indians? (Am I allowed to say that?)
Bill
Might be too many honorary positions.
I have to think that this search should not be real difficult. You have a school
system that has new buildings, and a record of support from the community
that has to make the position very attractive.
Also one would hope that the scores could be raised and shown progress. Which could help make a name for some candidate.
One question I would raise is where do we go to look. It is my understanding that Ric Wair has the required accreditation, knows the system, and is here already.

I guess you are allowed to say any ridiculous thing you want. Nobody has stopped you so far.

Glad to hear the search is under way.
One quick question, we know we are looking for a superintendent but do we know what we are looking for? What direction do we want our new superintendent to lead us? Lakewood is a wonderful diverse quirky community and I hope that our new superintendent understands the different aspects of Lakewood.

Those questions will be asked (and answered) through various community meetings (to be announced soon). Kathy LaSota, OSBA consultant, will facilitate these focus group sessions. Participants will be asked to address questions similar to yours, as well as the following questions:
• What are the major issues, challenges and opportunities facing the district over the next 3-5 years?
• What professional performance expectations should be in place for the next superintendent?
• What personal and professional qualities are to be sought in the next superintendent?
I believe that OSBA will be posting a questionnaire on their website (www.osba-ohio.org) so everyone can share comments without having to actually attend a focus group session. When that online questionnaire is available, I will make sure to post a link here.
All five board members are currently processing these same questions as well.
