Stan, you forgot Linux guy. But I like the idea of a hip auto zone crowd. People who are too cheap to pay a mechanic. (Thanks to the internet everyone is a mechanic!!!)

Jim---there's a whole 'nuther market out there. It isn't about being too cheap, but rather being selective. I think that's one of Lakewood's characteristics.

Now for the secrecy of this particular market, nobody's gonna give up the name of their Street Mechanic.

My husband was very excited about the new AutoZone mainly because he is too cheap to pay someone to do simple work on his car. He was happy that they had hard to find parts for his car and that they had the synthetic oil he needed. Growing up as a mechanic's daughter I never learned how to fix anything on my car.

Our check engine light went on. We went there to check on the readout. First, there was an extremely nice and helpful person who helped us. The list of potential things looked long and expensive. The last thing on the list was a leak in the seal of the gas cap.

We thought that was a great place to start. That did the trick.

At the very least, I like being able to see the readout and do some research before I go to a mechanic. It makes everything better when you have a basis for discussion.

We went there tonight, we scheduled our appointment online and we were seen within about 10 minutes of getting there. The employees were great and I even found some good educational software for the kids. I'll just have to make sure I don't make going there a regular thing because I could spend a fortune in there.

No sorry we needed to get something repaired (sorry I forgot that part) and it's easier to make an appointment before you go in that way you don't have to wait forever.
