Patriot Day at LHS

Post by dl meckes »

If you haven't been past Lakewood High School, please make the trip.

Students have placed at least 3,000 flags in front of the school to help commemorate Patriot Day, on Sept. 11.

It's an amazing sight.

DL,

you beat me to the post! I just finished editing the photos from this afternoon, as I was present while the students stuck 2,977 flags into the front lawn of LHS.

Look for an article in the next paper.

Photos will be up shortly

I'm glad you got photos, Ivor.

I doubt I could do it justice.

LHS Key Club remembers 9/11

The five remaining members who stuck around after two hours of sticking flags into the ground. Some of the members had blisters on their hands from the wooden sticks!

Putting up the banners across Franklin Blvd....You can see the sea of flags lit up by the sun behind them.

the point of view of the group portrait...at one point I climbed higher. Neat view. Oh the dedication! :D

I drove by this morning and took some photos, too. Just can't seem to get them uploaded in this space!
It's an amazing sight to see.

I drove by. It is indeed a display that compels reflection.

Good job kids.

Last night, while attending the LHS Open House, I walked across Franklin from the Mods to the HS - the setting sun shining through the 2,997 flags was very moving.

A couple of pictures made it on the newsnet5.com website, but they're not as good as Ivor's pictures!!

Darn it...I missed open house last night. My 9th grade daughter is sick so I completely forgot about it.
