Who let the dogs out?

A dog came out of nowhere and ran onto the field during the St.Edward/Strongsville game Saturday evening at LHS Stadium.

Play was stopped, and after a dozen people failed to grab the dogs collar, and after it peed on the 29 yard line, a police officer decided to get the dogs attention and run AWAY from it....and it worked. The dog chased the officer out of the stadium!







Strongsville took the early 21-0 lead.


The Eagles wouldn't quit.

Ivor, did anyone interview the dog following the game?

Was its dash across the field a protest in solidarity with his pit bull brethren?

Is it true that he peed on the 29 yard line to evoke reference to the 29 pit bulls that have so far been removed from residence in the city?

I asked my cat if he knew anything about a universal dog-wide revolt but he wasn't talkin'

Ok, just because I live right by St. Ed's I can promise it was not one of my dogs or foster dogs. Really...dont look at me...I swear it wasnt. Stop giving me that look...I dont even know what kind of dog that is....but if it is homeless, I would be more than happy to help find it a new home... However I will have to ask if it is a Browns fan or a Steelers fan since it does like Football. Depending on it's answer will decide its fate......

I couldn't find the dog after the game, so I think it declined to comment. Maybe it was an elitist and didn't see a reason to comment, or maybe it thought that it's actions spoke for themselves.

Maybe we can get Mike Deneen to comment on behalf of the dog, since he's involved with the dog park and is a St.Edward grad.

I'm wondering how he got in there in the first place.....they usually have pretty good security watching the gates. Plus, there are even more gates and fences keeping fans from the field.
I'm going to dress up like a dog to sneak into the Ed's-Ignatius game.

I am trying to find out what happened to the dog. I don't know if it was ever actually caught. I do know that it was not taken to the animal shelter.

Are you suggesting that we need higher fences or more guards policing the wire? Maybe he paid a chihuahua to sneak him across the border.

Perhaps we need to contact an I.C.E. Agent (Illegal Canine Entry).

Although, from the sounds of it, there might be enough public pressure to declare Lakewood a "sanctuary city" for these dogs.

I too wonder how the dog got into the stadium.

The security guards didn't know... they just saw it appear and then chased it.

The actual field is gated off..and the stadium might have a gate or two open but there were lines to get into the stadium so I doubt that it came through there.

I walked by the stadium at the start of the second half, and the gate on Madison near Bunts was wide open, and the booth unmanned. Perhaps it was an inside job...

yes the officer was spotted yelling at a young photographer wearing a Lakewood Observer T-Shirt later on in the quarter for standing too close to the bench.

I swear, in my four years of taking photos at the stadium/in lakewood...I've never been asked my name, who I work for, what I'm doing there, and then tell me where I'm allowed to stand. That's probably because LHS doesn't have two paid police officers designated to guarding the bench area.

But it was nice to show up at the gate and be greeted by one of the administrators of the school. I tried introducing myself again in case he didn't remember who I was and he said "I know who you are I have your photo hanging in my office!".

But maybe it's a good thing the police officer didn't know who I was!

I'm telling you right now, if there is a 2nd annual running of the Pit Bulls (I suggest doing it every year on the anniversary of the ban), I'm making an entire running suit out of 'beggin-strips' and 'snausages'.
