Fun Dates for under $20 in Lakewood

Post by Ruthie Koenigsmark »

A fun date doesn't have to be expensive.........what great date ideas have you come up with if you're staying in town and have a few days to payday----

here's a few of mine..........please add some of your own.............I need some ideas : )

For an Adventurous Date:
1) Dining at restaurant offering Eastern cuisine -- like Chinese or Indian -- a cheaper and more exotic meal than your usual date fare. I love Indian Garden !

For something on the Romantic side:
1) Meet for a glass of wine at a wine bar in an interesting area before taking a stroll in the neighborhood. Love, Love, Love the patio and wine list at Players and then taking a stroll --ah!

How about the great Outdoors:
1) Go fly a kite (just don't tell your date that or he/she may get offended...) but so fun!

Be Cultural:
1) Check out our city's bands/concert halls. It's a great way to support local musicians..... just depends on your taste but one Saturday a month at the Masonic temple you can here a Contra band and DANCE--the Masonic also hosts a swing night each month if that's more your style!

ok, now it's your turn--------------------

How about the hidden little gem Peppers on Detroit and  (the street across from Cove) Nice little setting to split a pizza and a bottle of wine.

Rozi's Wine House (tonight for example).

$20 Wine Tasting with gourmet foods prepared by our chef.

Tonight, for example, 15 different wines, 3 winemakers (two from Oregon and one from Washington), and our in house chef preparing Sirloin, fish, gourmet pizza, and assorted cheeses.

Picnic in the park. Go and watch the sun set over the lake. Or you can make it fancy and take a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers.

When Winterhurst reopens, it is always fun to go ice skating or watch a HS game.

Swim at Huntington Beach - spend a day.

Free movies at CIA or the Library. Then go for coffee afterwards or a beer.

Dessert at Malleys.

Better check first if wine, etc. is allowed in the park of your choice or your date may not be too romantic!

Wine in plastic????? We just walked down by the water at Lakewood Park and to the right and ruined a romantic moment I think of a young man taking a picture of his sweetheart on the rocks. I thought "what a romantic place" to walk down and sit on those rocks and watch the Cleveland view with a picnic!!! Without the kids crawling on the rocks giving me a heart attack of course!

I love Rozi's and feel badly I haven't been there for a while and will go back soon! Best bang for the $20 in Lakewood!

A motorcycle ride through the parks is still less than $20 even with these gas prices!

Corky's on a Friday night to watch the variety of kareoke singers!

Brothers Lounge for any drink and you can listen to the concert without going into the hall. Nice wine bar on one side.

Reiki night at Goddess Blessed one Wed. per month-cost is only a food donation for the shelter and the positive energy is jumping!

Kathy from Goddess Blessed just told me when their kids were young and couldn't afford dinners out, they did breakfast weekly. Tina's Deli on Detroit, Coffee Pot on Madison, both under twenty for two!

Sitting on the front porch with homemade wine from a kit from Rozi's and the "juice" from Rozi's or Lakewood Tavern-$2 a bottle average and really, really good!

Malley's is running a special...BOGO free on any parlor item when you dine in. Can't beat that deal. I enjoyed some mom & son time tonight and I'm sure he didn't even know I save a few bucks!! :D
