Dewey's Pizza

Post by Justine Cooper »

Dewey's Pizza opens up next week on Detroit. From what I hear, it will give the other pizza restaurants a run for their money. Not only do they take vegetarian pizzas to a new level, all their food is organic except the pineapples and olives. It is brick oven and gourmet with big fresh salads that have a variety of items on them. In spite of businesses closing, many are still opening here, and really good ones.

well, if it's just like the Cleveland Heights one, it'll be good. Nothing earth-shattering, just good pizza. Won't hold a candle to Angelo's or Danny Boy's, though.

If you look at the top of the Lakewood section you will see how you can take the family there for a FREE pizza.

No matter how the pizza tastes, and I think it is OK, these will be good neighbors.

I don't know. My son got hired there and all people hired had to pass a test within that week memorizing every ingredient on every pizza and salad! It sounds like they care alot about customer service which means a lot! After hearing him recite the ingredients for the salads and pizza in songs and quotes (I wish he did that for all his classes at school) I can't wait to eat there! He said hands down it is the best pizza he ever ate.

Regardless of people's pizza taste, which to each his own, this is another positive addition to Lakewood, and the organic spin up the road from the Green store is nice to see. I predict they will do well.

Lakewood should be very greatful that we've landed Dewey's. During and after college in Dayton I spent some time in Cinci where they have their roots. Wonderful/cult following for obvious reasons. I'm just glad they landed on our side of the river as their search was up in the air for some time.

Looking forward to the grand opening and vibe for the West End. It is very interesting to see what has transpired down there in the past several years...hopefully more good things to come.

Dewey's is a unique and alternative choice to the regular sort of pizza that proliferates.

We are seeing more places that really are different - and I'm grateful.

We met a woman from Cleveland Heights tonight who was extolling the virtues of Lakewood and one of the things she was very enthusiastic over was the quality and variety of food choices.

As DH and I enjoyed a visit to Sullivan's lovely patio (the landscaping isn't done and I hope Mr. Sullivan will be in charge - he has a gift) we talked about the wonders of having the two business districts that run the length of the city.

Much to do, much to see, and a cornucopia of culinary opportunities!

Another good point is that it is Lakewood owned.

At least one of the two owners lives in Lakewood.

FWIW

Outstanding pizza, dessert, surroundings and service! Kudos for all the money and time the owners have put into this business and good for us that they chose Lakewood! I could eat goat's cheese on anything, but on their pizza and on a salad with pine nuts and sun dried cranberries, it was out of this world! :D
