Obama Town Hall
Oh. My. Goodness.
I just got home from the Barack Obama town hall, which was insanity with only one adult to help me with my two little ones (one friend backed out of coming this morning and my 1yr old was a very unhappy overstimulated little baby, finally got him to fall asleep on me in his carrier just as Ted Strickland took the stage). As aggrivating as waiting and the heat were, it was totally worth it because....
I GOT TO ASK BARACK A QUESTION!!!!!!
WOOT!
For those who watch the videos or hear the audios or read the transcripts... the last question was yours truly! For those who don't have access, I do have an audio recording (I was recording audio on my Palm Pilot for the whole thing after I came back in with a sleeping baby), my question was: what will Barack Obama do, as First Role Model, to make the White House green?
His answer made me quite happy... maybe some other government leaders at the local, regional, and state level that I saw in the audience (I'm looking at you, Ed Fitzgerald and Nikki Antonio, as well as Strickland) might be motivated to be role models in taking steps toward eco-consciousness... nudge nudge nudge, there's some good ideas in another thread here.

Photos are up!
Barack Obama Town Hall, Berea, Ohio- August 5, 2008

Ahmie Yeung asks the Senator a question:

I was lucky enough to be let in to the front of the stage, where usually only Secret Service and the National/Traveling media get to go. Even though it was only five minutes, the thrill of being in front of all the action is indescribable. My hands were shaking from the excitement and thrill of the opportunity. I'm glad I woke up on time today!

Ivor,
Again, great photos.
I've been to five of these events with you. I get to see each one twice, first through my eyes, then through yours.

Nothin' shakin' on Shakedown Street.
Used to be the heart of town.
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart.
You just gotta poke around.

Great pics, Ivor! I'm afraid mine didn't come out as well as my photos of prior rallies (this was the first one I went to with the kids and without my husband, so the person helping me didn't know the kids' quirks well enough to tend them without my ongoing help), I haven't had the energy to really go through them yet but I will in a few hours.
I made an audio recording of most of Barack's speech (missed the first part where the guy was heckling him about the pledge but that's already all over YouTube anyway), if anyone wants to hear it I can upload it as an MP3 to my server and post a link.
And in case the picture of me asking a question gets into the paper, the baby's name is Delano (yes, he's named after FDR).

Thanks for the encouragement. It seems as if my photos aren't as worthless as some might claim!
I received an email today from the press coordinator for advance events (like rallies and town hall meetings) for Barack Obama. I'll have to censor some of the email but here is most of it:
"holy [expletive]. Your pics are so great! I really love them....fantastic. you have real talent Ivor."
I'm glad I went to the event and I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Oh and before you ask the pics aren't nice enough to get me to vote for Obama!
maybe my serve and forehand will get you to vote for him then!

Ivor, He will NOT get my vote either however, you do. As I said to you on the 4th, I so respect you and the work you do. You are such a rare gem in the world we live in. You get my vote, even when I disagree.
