In "Lakewood We Can Do Better," LO 8/5/8, Peter Sackett asks with regard to Lakewood Public Library "What Happened to the "Get Out of Jail Free" Bones they used to give during the July 4th parade?"

This year LPL distributed the bones, which can be used to pay fines, at the June 1 Re-dedication, Meet the Trucks, and Summer Reading Club events.

...or, as my three kids have found out, they earned dog bones from completing their LPL summer reading list. I'm gaining more and more love for this library each day. Did Lakewood have a library when I was a kid? Kidding.
