Let's talk public urination. Seems to be all the rage here in Lakewood. And I'm not just talking in the wee hours of the morning.

Try 4pm on a Sunday - on Madison Avenue.

I also see in the police blotter an item about peeing in public outside our local pubs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, aren't there bathrooms for that sort of thing? Can you say disgusting?????

I remember college - however, this is beyond beyond. When do boys become men and learn to pee inside, in a sanitary fashion? Or are they too lazy to walk down the stairs?

It must be some sort of public indecency violation, or something. How 'bout it?

Maybe the keys to the public restrooms are locked up with the basketball hoops somewhere.

I'm not too thrilled about teenaged boys peeing on our bushes.

They aren't doing it during the day that I'm aware of, but I'm thinking about finding a motion detector sprinkler...

A spotlight does the trick. It saved us when we had knocking and pounding on our back porch sunday night.

Also a baseball bat is a great reinforcement to anyone willing to trespass and pee at free will. Granted you can't beat a person down in your front yard, but just in case they wanted to come into the home and stain a newly installed carpet, it's the way to go.

Not everyone is bothered by being soaked, but I haven't met a person yet that can pee and take a beating by a bat at the same time.

Diane,

You hit on one of my pet peeves. We used to have a building next to Harry Buffalo. The amount of urination that we had to deal with in our parking lot was amazing. (Let alone the other items.- some of which are just too gross to go into ).

The police said they would arrest people for public indecency - as far as I know it never happened. We were lucky if they came out for significant fights.

We worked hard to get a guard to patrol on Friday and Saturday nights. I think that is still the plan to get the bar owners to go together to hire some "rent a cops" to patrol.

I feel so bad for the residents who put up with the yelling, the vomiting and the urination on the lawns - normally around closing time.

This is going to continue to be an issue. It isn't only the irritation - it is a health hazard. We were told to use lime to help with the negative effects of it on the lawns.

Thanks for shedding some light on it.

The glass is half empty or half full. It just depends if you want blue or pink hydrangeas.

Maybe we should pay people to use public toilets? ;)

Well, Joe...since this year-old-discussion has taken place, what has been done to your knowledge to effectively rectify the situation?...

Exactly. So we'll continue discussing it until people in this city learn to confront these pissers, tell them what's what and wait there until the cops show up.

Is it time to start taking back our city yet? Is anyone else ready?

That would be one heck of a lot of piss. Lakewood police are fast, but not miracle workers.

I like to think I have a relatively good sense of humor, but really now - doesn't anyone take this seriously?

one year ago? how about 1,000 years ago. the is age old "problem" plagued the overwrought citizenry of rome. it's a small matter really. and unsolveable as long as people continue to feel a need to piss.

michael gill - i've been lurking and smirking at your posts all summer. an electric fence. did you see that guy keel over? good thing for the snow. good stuff. rome should've done it.

it is totally wrong to urinate on people's flowers.
