Beware of Stakeholders

Post by Bill Call »

It seems that the country that built the Panama Canal in ten years, that built the Empire State building in a one year, that landed a man on the moon eight years after deciding to do so can't get anything done.

Seven years after the attack on the World Trade Center tourists are coming to New York to view the hole in the ground:

Those who speak in favor or regionalization are always careful to voice concern about the views of the "stakeholders". Will the stakeholders rescue Cuyahoga County? Not bloody likely.

The Lakewood connection? If anything is going to get done someone's point of view is going to be ignored. If anything is going to get done someone's feelings are going to get hurt. If anything is going to get done the administration shouldn't care.

I had read somewhere the World Trade Center buildings had a lot of un-rented space for most of its history. The plans for the new towers are for even larger buildings.

I would shelf the entire rebuilding project and then just put up a few ten story buildings. I would not give them names including the words "world trade" or "freedom". It just seems superfluous at this point. Although, if there is a parking garage, The McFreedom Parking garage or "Disney parking garage" would be a good name for the parking garage.
