Actually Jeff I am embarrassed by the whole thing.

Paula Reed got Lakewood national mention, the plug for the LO was not needed but understood. However it brings out the trolls that are set to burn Lakewood to the ground.

Who knows why these spawns of satan have decided to burn it and us along with them, but I am sure they have their reasons.

So many people, working so hard to make this city better for all. And some that just want to tear it down and run it into the ground.

It would have been nice, for Paula and the city had the graffiti been left off for at least a week.

tsk, tsk, tsk

In another thread, someone asked "Who would want to destroy Lakewood, who would want to ruin our property values, belittle the library, the schools and all the hard work of so many?"

Now ask yourself why?

I can't even begin to fathom why there are people out there who are fully intent on destroying the city that they live in.

It's one thing to be educated about what's going on, whether it's through scanners, police blotters, etc. It's another to take that information and use it to run a campaign of fear.

For whatever reason, when I am bored at lunch, I read CL's Rants and Raves, and I am so puzzled and shocked by the stuff I read there. First, the disgusting levels of racism shown by some posters. Second, the outright reveling in the "Lakewood's going down and they deserve it" posts. I just dont get this attitude. I am guessing there is some latent hatred for Lakewood, for whatever reason, that it was seen as an affluent place and now it's got its issues. But some of the posts I see about Lakewood, I think, "Does this person actually ever visit?" Because I see none of this and I wonder where the hell these ideas are coming from.

Every town ages and has issues. The ones that do not have 'any' now will soon too. But I dont get why people don't realize that we are all tied together and one town's issues or failures affect everyone. You can't just keep moving away from them. You gotta stay and make it better if it needs it.

I digress. This convo should be moved to its own thread because it is just making something nice like the TOH mention of Lakewood into a negative discussion.

Any good conspiracy theory can be stated in 8 words or less:

Lakewood's success is the failure of regionalization.

Some websites discussion Lakewood might be in poor taste or even offensive but I'd be hesitant to criticize those publishing factual information. I also doubt that any website, no matter how inflammatory, will burn down the city. To have open debate means debating people who are both wrong and stubborn, but that's unlikely to change. I would say that websites had pretty much no influence on our decision to buy here in 2003.

I would agree, except that is not what is going on.

Selected choice, selected editing and peopling throwing rocks behind faux names.

I will fight for their right to do so, but that does not mean I agree or even like it.

Then when you talk to those involved and find out why they hate Lakewood and why they have decided to turn on not just the city but their neighbors, I just shake my head and walk away.

FWIW
