Dewey's Pizza
Does anyone know anything about Dewey's Pizza opening in Lakewood at 18515 Detroit? Like when and any details? Their site www.deweyspizza.com is quite interesting! Anything coming from Oregon has to be way cool! It sounds exciting!

Dewey's Pizza is the pizza of choice at the Heights Observer Meetings, so I have had it many times. I would invite, DL, Heidi, Ken, Steve Davis, or our Heights friends to jump in.
Different, yes
Good, yes (though Ken made faces. Ken has also scrapped the sauce off the pizza at Mama Santos at 8 om on a Friday night, much to the dismay of everyone in the room, then explain what is wrong with their crust too.)
Will not make a run on Angelos, Italian Creations, Peppers, Bucci's and Maria's(on a good night), the rest of the pie shops in town should worry.
FWIW

I know Angelos and Italian Creations are the "gourmet" pizza we "splurge" on when out of town guests are here for sure. Dewey's though sounds like a really fun and innovative pizza place with music and a West Coast energy. I am excited for them coming here for sure.

Originally from Oregon I thought the site said! beers on tap, music in the background, and good pizza. I think he took his college degree and made pizza an art! I wish they were on Madison!Jim O'Bryan wrote:I think they are out of Cincinnati.Justine Cooper wrote:I know Angelos and Italian Creations are the "gourmet" pizza we "splurge" on when out of town guests are here for sure. Went by there the other day and they had a mailbox with sample menus in it. Looked pretty straightforward to me - but sure beats an empty store front.

They are hiring.
Here is the menu

Another fun place to eat and relax in Lakewood. They show the address as 18516

Wow...we have almost as many pizza places as bars in Lakewood! It seems that way anyway.
I think I meant 16 not 18!!!! We do have a lot of pizza, but not a lot of places to sit and have good pizza! And listen to music too is nice! Speaking of, has anyone tried Brothers since they reopened? I was SO impressed the other night and what a crowd it is drawing-nice mature mix of well behaved adults with a band in the concert hall in the back and a wine bar on the other side! That was a nice change to go to on a weekend.

The pizza's pretty good ... at least the one in the Heights was. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good. So no, none of the Lakewood pizzerias (other than some of the bland chains) need fear anything. But folks will like Dewey's, it's a nice atmosphere, and kids like being able to look through the window to see the pizza being made.
And it'll be good to have another place to eat in the Walkable West End ...
