Lakewood Law Enforcement Initiative
On Wednesday, April 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium, we will be presenting the details of our Law Enforcement Initiative for 2008. The presentation is open to the public.
There has been some mention on this board of involvement by the U.S. Marshals in Lakewood in the last few days. This is just one aspect of this inititiative, and will be fully explained next Wednesday.
A power point summary will also be made available here and on the city's website at www.onelakewood.com.

I saw the Marshalls with Lakewood police leaving a home the other morning. Then when I showed up to tutor a little boy on Marlowe they were all over. Apparently my friend saw a man jump the back of her fence and was hiding under the porch stairs. She had no idea what was going on but immediately called the police. The man had just robbed a home on Clifton but picked the WRONG day to do it, because apparently there were police and Marshalls out everywhere picking up people on warrants!!!!!!
I have to say it made me feel better. Like they were really trying to clean up some garbage in Lakewood. I think we will like this initiative. Good job.

I was wondering what was going on this week. There were a ton of police cars and uniformed and non-uniformed officers all over the place. I saw them on a variety of side streets approaching homes. I saw at least a few situations like this in one day, which is rare to see even one. Neat-o.
I look forward to this presentation.

Mayor Ed FitzGerald is living up to his campaign pledge, and making Lakewood safer.
Thank you.

I was unable to attend the meeting, but I did find today's PD scoop to be an interesting read: http://tinyurl.com/6fxj7y
I'd be curious if the meeting included any other pertinent details (e.g., where are other Ward PD locations?)

The Mayor and his staff deserve kudos for pulling off last night's presentation and for getting the 25-page Public Safety Initiative report on the www.onelakewood.com Web site so quickly.

I didn't go to the presentation, but thanks for the link to the report. It is a quick read, but seems pretty comprehensive for an administration that has been in place for less than 4 months, especially considering all of the attention that finances have gotten. I am generally optimistic.

Observers--- I attended the presentation and will incorporate some of its aspects in my council article.
In summary, a little bit of the old, a little bit of the new.
In specific response to John Guscott's question regarding location of the ward substations--- Fedor Manor will be the ward 4 location. Others are yet to be determined and a 2009 time line is projected.
