Some positives from the Lakewood Home Show

Post by Justine Cooper »

I know that thread has long ago died, but as I was cleaning out my bag of materials I collected there, I was glad I went. Here are some positives I took from the show:

Sherwin Williams, although not the local one, had a representative demonstrating some new products. One catalog of cool things included Wallies, peel and stick art, dry erase boards, and chalkboards, in all kinds of shapes to put right on your child's wall. I know it sounds a little "tacky" (no pun), but if you saw the catalog you would see how great they are! There are themes for boys and girls from fairies to tree frogs and they look like real art on the wall but you can take them down if you want. The dry erase (which my kids love) you stick right to the wall and are also themed, and the chalkboard come in different shapes! Unfortunately, our local SW did not carry these items, but if you want a catalog, call 1-800-775-3515; www.wallpapermore.com.

There was also a neat presentation on Feng Shui.

An incredible local Lakewood artist was set up, a muralist who Ruthie was trying to snag for the LIA MAMA art walk, Jeff Ritchie, www.myspace.com/jeffpaints. If you want to do your child's room in the most amazing art, look him up.

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity: Restore is a discount building materials store operated by the above group and is a great place to donate tools, home building products such as windows, doors, fixtures, trim, tubs, sinks, wallpaper, flooring, tile, lumber, electrical supplies, plumbing supplies, hardware, and more. Having thrown some of this stuff away, I was thrilled to learn about this place! Please save these items for donation to this worthy group! THey even pick some things up!
