home show signs

Post by Jim Marquard »

The signs the city used for the home show are ugly and cheap. Putting two pieces of wood, spraying paint in block letters, reminds me of a garage sale. If anybody would have used those type of signs in their front yards the city would have taken them down. Is the city that cheap not to invest in signs that are attractive and nice to promote the Lakewood Home Show. If you promote it right, you will have a good turnout. I just think the city and Mayor Ed could have done better to promote the show throughout the city with attractive, eye-catching signs.

home show signs

Post by jennifer scott »

They are as ugly and as tacky as the signs they put up in front of the schools announcing things. Is this the best we can do? It certainly is probably the cheapest but, inexpensive doesn't need to LOOK cheap!

Where do the profits go from the Home Show here? From what I hear, it is NOT cheap for businesses to set up.
JOB-don't you print signs??

I do make signs, as do others in the Chamber. The city also has a very good sign shop in-house that I am sure would have liked the job as well.

My problem, as a sign maker, member, resident and sponsor for this event. It could have and should have been done so much better.

How can I complain about Mo's, The Mattress Company, Banners on buildings, hand painted trash in from of homes, apartments and business, then not be very disappointed by this.

A couple weeks ago, I awoke to yellow bed sale signs on every other pole on Detroit and Madison. It is just ugly. To see the schools doing it was another slap in the face.

How can the city complain about bad signs when they allow this? Or allow the even worse signs in front of schools!

Safe, Clean, Fun

Is it really so hard?

FWIW

Jim Marquard & Jim O'Bryan,

You're both right about the ugly signs!

I hope people attend the event in spite of the signs. In 1981 they had 15,000 attendees.

Bill,
I didn't know this has been put on since 1981!! I only heard of it last year. Do you help put it on??? For a bigger business those prices aren't bad, but for small business $200 can be a hit especially in the winter when sales are lower. I do hope the Home Show is a success for all businesses involved. Do you know what the children activities are.

Oh, MY....This just blows my mind--with so many talented people in Lakewood, why are "we" using a firm in Broadview Hts??? There has to be at least one Marketing firm in Lakewood...right ? And if not, certainly there are one or two talented pp here who would have gladly helped the chamber with the project. We need to be more Lakewoodcentric as best we can , especially now with the economy as it is.

The signs are really, really bad --the Project Manager should have pulled them immediately!

Excited about going to the show tomorrow--!

That's got to be one of the crappiest websites I've seen in years, as well.

I'll withhold any further judgements until I see the show itself, but the LCC could probably have produced the show themselves with more class and less money.
