School zone for St. James??

Post by Dee Krupp »

Anybody know why the city painted "school" in the street by St. James as well as operate the 20 mph school lights?? I don't understand why they would do that since St. James students are now at Lakewood Catholic Academy.

I believe St. James's former school now houses a Postive Education Program site which may explain why the school zone remains.

I don't think that's it. There's child care centers all over Lakewood and they don't have school zones.

There is a private school in the old Catholic school. I think it is some type of special ed school.

It must be the PEP program. I do remember seeing a bunch of PEP vans in the parking lot. Thanks!

It is the PEP program, which encompasses the entire building. The daycare center is in the Weigand Center behind the church on Northwood and Granger.

I understand the school zone in front of St. James but does any one know why there is still an active school zone in front of Franklin Elementary. I was driving on Franklin today east of Bunts and the school zone 20 MPH sign was on. There doesn't seem to be any activity there. Any ideas?

I can answer that one. Lakewood City Academy students are in the modular units at Franklin.
