Best Bread

Post by Ryan Salo »

I just wanted to post something non political for once. :)

I had the Country Butter Top Bread from Breadsmith with lunch today and it was by far the best bread I have ever eaten.

Anyone else have a favorite menu item from a local establishment?

I love the Breadsmith's monkey bread and the pies, though not made by them, are excellent.

I love LaPita's hummus and chicken shwarma and Scechzuan Garden's crab rangoons.

Breadsmith's honey white is absolutely killer, though the English Muffin Bread is a close second. I love living around the corner from them and being able to walk over whenever I like. Another plus for Lakewood! Some of the outer ring suburbs only have "bakeries" inside their giant supermarkets, and it's just not the same.

I am bummed by the closure of the Bavarian Pastry Shop though ... and still hold out hope that perhaps another bakery will open in its stead.

For you vegetarians....Lin Garden (on madison) will substitute bean curd (tofu) for the chicken in their orange chicken dish. So good! Also, the spring rolls (veggie) at Thai Kitchen are THE BEST. I traveled to Thailand and found their food to be very authentic.
