We do what we can:
We buy organic foods, yes local is the best.
My husband would never be a vegetarian, but we eat very little meat (like only a couple times a week).
All our lights are CFL's.
We have newer energy star appliances.
We unplug everything that doesn't need to always be own, we keep the major appliances (fridge, washer/dryer plugged in) everything else gets plugged in when used.
I'd love to do something about our heater, but alas we are renters so no replacing the old gravity furnace. We do keep the heat at 60 all the time, except at night when we turn it off. We are used to it, and we stay bundled, long johns are wonderful. We also seal all the windows and amazingly we have all the storm windows.
Always use reusable bags, not just for the grocery store.
Walk, walk, walk.
Recycle everything possible and try not to buy things with a lot of packaging.
We don't use sandwich baggies. When I pack lunches in the morning, we use reusable plastic containers and washable plastic juice boxes.
Thanks for starting this topic Stephen!
