Light Up Lakewood Event Reminder - TONIGHT
Light Up Lakewood Event Reminder
Hello All –
November 30, 6-8 p.m. – According to http://www.lightuplakewood.com/
Detroit Avenue, from Marlowe to Arthur, will be closed to traffic for tonight’s festivities.
Interested folks can go to that Website for all the details and/or read the excellent article in the November 13 Lakewood Observer written by Jennifer Raynor – http://lakewoodobserver.com/read/news/o ... p-lakewood
I thank everyone involved in advance for making this possible. (I have nothing to do with organizing the event but just thought a reminder would be helpful.)

John,
I too am confused. This year seems to have a deficit of city lights (not merchant lights...they have been great). In addition to the lack of lights at Lakewood Park, why are the Madison snowflake lights on Detroit and what happened to the lights that are typically on Detroit? In addition to the wreaths or trees, last year I recall they added a lighting display that spanned the roadway. Does anyone know if the cutbacks in public lighting displays are related to budget concerns or is something else at play?
Just curious. And I love the blue lights over the sidewalk around Phoenix and Lion and Blue.

I know the Swags that hung across the street that were introduced last year were not put up because of problems with them bending CEI light poles. This is part of a new "no banner" approach by city hall.
It seems that CEI got pretty mad last year. They wanted them down before Christmas, Tony Beno lobbied and got them to stay up until the day after Christmas. At the time the city was going to look at installing their own poles for the swags.
As for the missing lights from Lakewood Park, I have no idea.
